Are you struggling to consistently and easily win when playing short handed Texas Holdem? Then read these new post flop tips for short handed games now.

It’s not really easy playing post flop for a short handed game. You can’t push anyone around so you won’t really be able to win chips as easily. But there are a few critical chunks of information that you can take away and adapt to your own advantage to enable you to win more often.

The first and easiest thing to do to win more with short handed Texas Holdem is to bet aggressively – raise out aggressively. Typically you should be playing between 3/4 to 4/5 pots most of the time and if you get more involved in the game you will win more.

Playing weaker hands you can get into a habit of calling, checking and wasting chips. You won’t really ever be in difficult situations with those hands because you won’t be in position to bet.

So what hands to play and which to fold? You should usually stick to the top ten pre-flop hands. These are AA, KK, QQ, JJ, AK, AQ, AJ, KQ. Then you can add the weaker hands in the list like 108, 967, 857, etc. All of these hands are great but remember you goal is to win more not to win more often.

If you lose a pot because you flop two pair or a pair and a low card don’t feel bad it’s part of the game. You will manage though and hopefully win the next hand or two to get you back in the game.

Now with all of the loose players being what you are dealing with in the post flop game you need to be looser still. You want to play more hands but focus on the ones that have the best chance of beating everyone else.

So expanding on the first idea, you want to play your bigger hands like AA, KK, QQ, JJ, AK, AQ, AJ, KQ. You want to play these as long as you can before getting involved in a lot of pots. You can be wrong and get put out a hand or two but you will get far in the tournament playing these cards.

Your goal when playing from the button is to get into the pot when you have the best chance of taking down a big pot. You will get your chips into the middle more often than not and by doing this you will build your stack and be on your way to winning it.

Your stack size in comparison to your opponent’s is very important in this concept. Don’t go to the tournament with a small stack and work your way up. Take your time and don’t start chasing blinds or antes. Your long term success will depend on how small of a stack you have in comparison to your opponents stack size.

There are a few points you need to be aware of when moving all-in with these hands. Most important is you need to have or get a good hand. You don’t want to be on a short stack with this hand. If you are on a short stack and you get played with a hand like AT then you are in trouble. You don’t want to be where you are at only with one or two more players before the event starts.

When you all-in with these hands you especially want to be playing from the button. This is the best position to do so. Try not to move all-in with hands like A5 or A4 unless you are in the right position. Often times a hand like A4 or A5 from the button will be enough to win the tournament.

One of the best ways to win with short handed Texas Holdem is to take more risks. You are less likely to be called and so you are also less likely to be losing too many chips when called. Try and push all-in every time you play a pot from the button.
